Fingleton quits Competition Authority for UK post

The Competition Authority chairperson John Fingleton has resigned from his position, it was announced today.

The Competition Authority chairperson John Fingleton has resigned from his position, it was announced today.

The resignation will take effect in the first week of October 2005. John Fingleton will take up his new role as chief executive of the UK Office of Fair Trading (OFT) later in October and will be an executive member of the Board of the OFT.

Mr Fingleton said: “I’m looking forward to my new role in the Office of Fair Trading but very much regret having to leave The Competition Authority. I would like to pay particular tribute to all the staff of

the Authority with whom I have had the privilege of working."
