The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has released a report on the seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries.

The CSO said for the three month period March to May 2005 industrial production for manufacturing was down 3.6% on the same period in 2004.

On an annual basis production for all industries in May 2005 was 3.4% lower than in May 2004.

The “Modern Sector”, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual decrease in production for May 2005 of 2.3%, while a decrease of 5.3% was recorded in the “Traditional” sector.

The seasonally adjusted industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was 0.1% higher in the three month period March to May 2005 when compared with the same three months last year.

On an annual basis turnover in May 2005 was 2.9% higher than in May 2004.
