The Killybegs Fisherman's Organisation has appointed Norah Parke as crab co-ordinator for the North West region.

KFO chief executive Sean O’Donoghue said she can deliver "meaningful results for the KFO crab members".

The crab industry in the North West is a very significant source of employment with just under a thousand people employed at sea and ashore and is worth approximately €23m per annum.

"The crab co-ordinator will be the catalyst to develop and enhance this fishery in a sustainable manner, thus improving the financial return to crab fishermen and the local economy,” said Mr O'Donoghue.
