Regulator: Electricity prices could rise by 36%

The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) has reportedly predicted that electricity prices in Ireland could be set to increase by up to 36% due to rising fuel costs and charges for carbon emissions.

The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) has reportedly predicted that electricity prices in Ireland could be set to increase by up to 36% due to rising fuel costs and charges for carbon emissions.

Reports this morning said the commission had described the 36% figure as a "worst-case scenario", but whatever increase does materialise, it is likely to be higher than the previous predictions of 12% to 14%.
