Consumers urged to shop around for cheapest life insurance

The Irish Financial Regulatory Authority has advised people seeking life or mortgage-protection insurance to shop around for the cheapest policy available.

The regulator published a survey of the premiums levied by different firms today and said consumers could make significant savings by comparing the various costs.

It said even smokers and the elderly, who traditionally face higher premiums, could make savings by shopping around.
