Insurance complaint upheld against Hibernian

A complaint against Hibernian Insurance has been upheld by the Equality Tribunal.

Twenty-three-year-old Ciaran Kennedy was denied a motor quote because he was two years younger than customers the company was prepared to do business with.

Hibernian had refused to take his three-year clean driving record into account.

The case has led to a change in policy with full and provisional licence-holders of any age now eligible for cover.
