Labour Court set to register construction pay rates

Pre-established pay rates for workers in the construction industry have been lodged with the Labour Court in Dublin.

They were agreed by unions and the industry seven years ago, but they have never been registered.

The move by the court this afternoon means they are now legally binding.

SIPTU's Eric Fleming says: "This is a legal agreement and they are entitled to proper rates of pay and construction officers are entitled to their full rate of pay which can bring them up to €16 an hour."
