ISEQ up more than 60

The ISEQ index closed up 60.65 points at 6218.27 today.

However, it was a bad day for pharmaceutical giant Elan, which lost 20c (3.6%) to close at €5.40.

Jurys Hotels was the other big loser, down 40c (2.6%) at €15.15.

Construction companies fared better, with Grafton up 21c (2.4%) at €8.93 and CRH gaining 34c (1.7%) to €20.89.

CRH was today’s busiest share.

Ryanair was 11c (1.8%) in the black at €6.34.

AIB closed up 20c (1.2%) at €16.50. Bank of Ireland finished the day up 15c (1.2%) at €12.60. Anglo Irish Bank was up 10c (1%) at €10.05. Irish Life and Permanent was the one financial faller, down 4c at €13.51.

Kerry Group gained 20c (1.1%) to €20.05. Rival food group IAWS was down 9c at €12.16.
