The ISEQ ended this week's slump today as it climbed back 42.24 points to close the day at 6,035.71.

Financial shares were mixed. Bank of Ireland shares slipped back from strong early gains, slipping 2c to €12.20. Earlier Bank of Ireland announced increased profits to the end of March this year of 13%.

Allied Irish Bank shares were unchanged at €26.80. Eugene Sheehy was appointed an executive director of the group today.

Shares in Anglo Irish Bank fell 7c to €9.28 while Irish Life & Permanent shares surged 14c to €13.19 today.

Meanwhile construction group McInerney climbed 5c to €7.90 today as the company announced pre-tax profits for 2004 of €40.7m at the AGM today.

Other construction shares also fared well. CRH shares climbed 32c to €19.80; Kingspan up 5c to €8.88 and Grafton up 12c to €8.42.

Meanwhile Jury's Doyle Group continues to climb on the back of strong takeover speculation, climbing 60c today to close at €14.80.

As the price of a barrel of US light crude dipped by more than a dollar to just over $49 a barrel, the news boosted companies who rely so much on fuel.

Shares in Ryanair climbed 13c to €5.88. The company was also given the go-ahead to purchase further aircraft from Boeing.

Irish pharmaceutical Elan continued on the recovery trail today, jumping 62c to €5.97.

The most traded shares today were Anglo Irish Bank, AIB, Bank of Ireland, Jury's Doyle and CRH.
