Trade union group Amicus may ballot for industrial action at Bank of Ireland as they are unhappy with parts of the bank's cost-cutting programme.

"Bank of Ireland management have not engaged in a constructive manner with this union throughout this process and they know of our dissatisfaction," said Union Regional Officer Colm Quinlan.

Amicus represents over 400 members in the Bank of Ireland Group in the ICS Building Society, New Ireland/Bank of Ireland Life and Bank of Ireland head office.

"We have scheduled a series of general meetings with our members concluding on Monday. We are scheduled to meet Bank of Ireland management on that day. If following that meeting our serious concerns are not addressed we will proceed immediately to a vote for industrial action," added Quinlan.
