American Airlines inaugurates new routes
American Airlines has inaugurated its new non-stop transatlantic services between Ireland and the US. The two routes are Dublin-Chicago and Shannon-Boston.
These new services mark the return of American Airlines to direct scheduled services between the United States and Ireland after a gap of more than 50 years.
The airline will operate both routes on a daily basis during the peak summer travel season and five days a week the rest of the year.
Return fares from Dublin to Chicago start from €510, including tax, while return fares from Shannon to Boston start from €466, including tax.
The addition of Dublin and Shannon to its route network will increase American Airline's overall presence in Europe to 12 destinations in eight countries and will give the airline a total of up to 280 non-stop flights a week each way across the Atlantic.
American Airlines' European and pacific vice president Craig Kreeger said: "We continue to focus on international markets as we position American for long-term success under our turnaround plan."
