Asda 'interested in Somerfield stores'

Speculation linking Asda to a bid for Somerfield strengthened today after it was reported that the US-owned grocer had hired advisers to explore an offer.

Asda, the UK’s second biggest supermarket chain behind Tesco, is said to have appointed City firm Lazard to review its options on Somerfield.
