IBEC seeks reform of food and drink regulations

The employers' body IBEC has called on the Government to reform regulations governing the food and drink sector in Ireland.

The organisation claimed strict regulations not only placed a financial burden on business, but also created confusion for consumers

Spokesperson Rosemary Garth said: "It is a major challenge for us to try and address that and make sure that regulation, although it does have a role, is only introduced when there is a clear need and it has a clear consumer benefit."
