A Moscow court today ordered a freeze of the main assets of the Yukos oil company.

This was in response to a lawsuit brought by the firm’s former core production unit, the Interfax news agency reported.

The former Yukos unit, Yuganskneftegaz, which is now owned by state-run Rosneft, is claiming hefty damages against Yukos, alleging it bought oil from its subsidiary at below market prices.
