Jameson whiskey-owner Pernod Ricard has confirmed it is considering making an offer for rival drinks giant Allied Domecq.

"Pernod Ricard confirms that it is considering an offer for Allied Domecq plc, and is working closely with Fortune Brands Inc.," the company said today.
