Book shop chain Ottakar’s said trading remained challenging today after seeing like-for-like sales dip 1.6% in the first seven weeks of its financial year.

The fall – partly due to comparisons with strong trading in early 2004 – comes after a disappointing Christmas season led to a profits warning in January.
