Somerfield to make decision on takeover approaches

Bidders circling British supermarket chain Somerfield will learn this week if their £1bn-plus offers have gained boardroom support, it was reported today.

The directors of the Bristol-based chain are said to be meeting soon to discuss whether to recommend one of two offers, including the approach from a group led by Iranian property tycoon Robert Tchenguiz.
