Japan confirms 16th case of mad cow disease

Japan confirmed its 16th case of mad cow disease today in a nine-year-old cow from northern Japan, the government said.

Experts concluded that the Holstein cow from Teshio town in northern Hokkaido prefecture (state) was infected with the brain-wasting illness after analysing samples taken this past week, the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.
