Esat BT wins RTÉ contract

Esat BT today announced that it had won the competitive tender to provide RTÉ’s You’re a Star programme with a premium rate sms voting system for the 10-week duration of the competition.

You’re a Star, the talent show which decides Ireland’s representative in the 2005 Eurovision contest, relies on a live, public voting system to determine the winner of each heat.

The Esat platform collates all public votes cast via sms, verifies and counts them within 90 minutes to establish a winner which is then announced during a live results show.

Mike Maloney, COO of Esat BT said: “Live since the 2nd of January, this win is testament to Esat BT's capabilities in the emerging market of premium rate messaging.”

The ‘You’re a Star’ series runs for a total of 10 shows with the final ‘You’re a Star’ show broadcast live on RTÉ One on March 5 and 6.
