Famous liner could end up as scrap

The Norway liner formerly called France could end up as scrap metal if it doesn’t find a buyer by next week, its owner, Norwegian Cruise Lines, has said.

Now named Norway, the liner has been docked at Bremerhaven in Germany since 2003.

Norwegian Cruise Lines representative Niels North said the firm wants €20m for the ship and plans to sell it for scrap if no buyer is found by Monday.

France plied the Atlantic Ocean between Le Havre and New York for more than 10 years until it was laid up in 1974. It was bought by NCL five years later.
