Energia set to win Dept of Finance contract

Energy provider Energia is to be awarded a contract to supply power for the Department of Finance to hundreds of State-owned establishments.

Energy provider Energia is to be awarded a contract to supply power for the Department of Finance to hundreds of State-owned establishments.

These include Government Departments, the Customs House, Garda Headquarters, the Revenue Commissioners, prisons and hospitals among other facilities throughout Ireland.

Energia will also supply power to Áras an Uachtaráin via the Office of Public Works.

Energia’s parent company, Viridian Group is investing €250m in a second new power plant in Dublin.

Viridian is listed on the Dublin and London stock exchanges and employs over 2600 people. In 2003/04 the Group had a turnover of €1.248bn.

Viridian Group has all-Ireland energy interests through Energia and Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), the Group’s major subsidiary. Also a member of the Viridian Group is Sx3, an IT and outsourcing business.
