A new law giving employers in Northern Ireland the right to see the criminal records of potential employees moved a step closer today.

It is aimed at protecting children and vulnerable adults, but will allow any employer to request a prospective employee supply a copy of any record.

"Safer recruitment in Northern Ireland" was put out for 12 weeks public consultation by Northern Ireland's Security Minister, Ian Pearson.
