Paddy Power suspends NME betting

Paddy Power has been forced to suspend betting on the upcoming NME awards.

The news comes after a huge betting plunge on some of the less likely candidates for some of the main awards.

The Libertines were the main focus of the betting coup being heavily gambled from 3/1 down to odds-on 4/6 favourite for Best British Band, while their odds were also slashed for Best Album from 10/1 into 6/4 favourite before betting was suspended.

As for the award for Best International Band, The Killers have been subject of massive support which saw their odds slashed from 8/1 to 5/4. Amazingly, not even one bet was struck on the original hot favourites, U2.

Paddy Power’s shares were unchanged on the ISEQ today at €12.70.
