Knock International Airport has announced that passenger numbers increased by 51% to 373,000 in 2004, up from 247,000 the previous year.

The number of charter passengers also rose from 32,000 to 58,700, up 83%.

ā€œ2004 was a hugely successful year for Knock International Airport. The increase in passenger numbers is a truly great achievement for all who have dedicated so much to the airport’s development over the last year,ā€ said airport boss Liam Scollan.

"We expect this trend will continue, with passenger numbers for 2005 anticipated to rise to over 500,000.ā€

During the past five years, Knock International Airport’s passenger numbers have more than doubled from 171,000 in 2000 to 373,000 in 2004.

In 2004, Knock International Airport introduced new daily flights to Manchester and Liverpool. In partnership with Panorama Holidays, the airport also introduced skiing holidays to Andorra in winter 2004 and, in association with United Travel, once again offered one-day excursions to Lapland in December.
