ISEQ climbs steadily in morning trading

The ISEQ index has begun the week in buoyant mood, surging 40.84 higher in morning trading today to 6,643.77.

Allied Irish Bank shares rose 4c to €15.53 while Bank of Ireland shares climbed 14c to €12.34. Bank of Ireland Asset Management today announced two further senior appointments to its investment team.

Anglo Irish Bank climbed 6c to €18.85. Irish Life & Permanent shares slipped 5c to €14.07.

Elsewhere shares in construction group Kingspan edged 1c higher to €7.81 today. 3DM Worldwide said today it has reached agreement with Kingspan to develop a number of building materials products.

Pharmaceutical giant Elan rose dramatically in morning trading, climbing 55c to €22.25.

Food group Kerry has climbed 20c this morning and is trading at €18.55.

The most traded shares today are Bank of Ireland, eircom, CRH, AIB and Ryanair.
