ntl and Vodafone do business on fibre optic backbone
ntl business has secured an agreement with Vodafone to install a 90km fibre optic backbone transmission network in Dublin.
The network will link Vodafone network and data sites in Dublin city centre, Sandyford, City West and the IDA Industrial Park in Clonshaugh to support Vodafone's third generation network deployment.
Since acquiring its 3G licence, at a cost of €114m in 2002, Vodafone Ireland has invested €150m in its roll-out of 3G. This additional investment in a fibre backbone will also support its 2.5G network.
