IrishJobs.ie targets Welsh market
An Irish company has invaded the Welsh job market in a bid to match suitable employees with vacant posts, it emerged today.
The IrishJobs.ie Group expanded into the principality with the launch of WelshJobs.Com – the first bilingual recruitment website dedicated exclusively to employment in Wales.
The company is targeting the growing Welsh economy with its fourth site and has opened offices in Cardiff.
It has invested €725,000 in the new recruitment site, which was launched by Welsh Economic Development Minister Andrew Davies.
The Group, whose IrishJobs.ie is the most popular jobsearch site in Ireland, already has a strong presence in Northern Ireland and Scotland with NIJobs.com and Scottishjobs.com.
Chairman Leslie Buckley said the Welsh economy was growing dramatically and provided excellent opportunities for the business.
“One of the lessons we learnt in Ireland is that during a period of economic growth one of the key pressures on employers is attracting the right employee base as quickly and efficiently as possible,” he said.
“IrishJobs.ie is set apart from our competitors by its focus on developing a local solution for a local market. In WelshJobs.Com we will be seeking to bring a Welsh solution to the Welsh market.”
Mr Buckley said several major private and public sector employers and recruitment agencies were already arranging to place their job adverts on the website.
WelshJobs.Com will also target students beginning to look for a career after graduating this summer.
The site can be searched by over 50 job categories or by a range of locations across Wales.
The website is completely bilingual in Welsh and English and is also targeting employers looking for staff able to work through the medium of Welsh.
The company employs a total of around 60 people in offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Cardiff.
