The construction sector contributed to a good day for Dublin's stock exchange which ended the day up 37.06 points at 6,552.01.

The main riser was CRH who raised their stock price by 42 cents to €20.92, while Grafton weren't far behind on a 29 cent rise to stand at €9.65. McInerney saw their stock go up 15 cents to €7.15 and Kingspan had a 13 cent price rise to €7.63. Both Abbey (€8.99) and Heiton (€8.10) were unchanged for the day, while Readymix were the only blot with a 5c fall to €2.20.

The other major risers for the day were Elan and Jurys who both climbed 20 cents to €21.40 and 13.65 respectively, closely followed by an 18 cent rise for Iona Technologies to €4.63.

The financials were mixed with both AIB (up 2c to €15.42) and Anglo Irish Bank (up 10 cents to €18.70) showing rises. Irish Life and Permanent were stable on €14.05, but Bank of Ireland fell slightly by 2c to €12.20.
