US Treasury Secretary John Snow has cancelled his trip to London for weekend meetings of the world’s seven richest industrial countries because he is ill with a cold.

Washington will be represented by Treasury Under-secretary John Taylor, the department’s top international expert, as well as Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan.

The G-7 finance meetings are attended by the finance ministers and central bank heads of the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Canada.

For the meetings in London, that group will be joined by finance officials from Russia, Brazil, India, South Africa and China.
