Wexford brothers set up new Rosslare-Cherbourg ferry service

Six brothers from Co Wexford have reportedly set up a ferry service between Rosslare and Cherbourg to replace the service axed by P&O Ferries late last year.

Reports this morning said the O’Flaherty brothers from Kilmore Quay had bought P&O’s European Diplomat ferry in a €10m deal and were planning to resume sailings between Rosslare and Cherbourg tonight.

The brothers reportedly said their €15m fish export business to France and Spain would have been in jeopardy if the route had not been re-established.

P&O cancelled their Rosslare-Cherbourg sailings last year in a cost-cutting measure.
