The Irish retail market has been ranked seventh in the world in terms of per capita spend in a global Deloitte report.

Per capita sales in 2003were $6,142 (€4,73), compared to the leading country Japan ($9,309 / €7,172) and the US ($8,542 / €6,582). The UK had per capita sales of $5,924 (€4,565).
