Cable-operated ferry service planned for Lough Corrib
Shannon Ferries is reportedly planning to establish a cable-operated car ferry service on Lough Corrib in Co Galway.
Reports this morning said the company, which already operates a car ferry across the Shannon Eastuary, had lodged a planning application for the Corrib project with Galway County Council.
If approved, the cable-operated service would be the first of its kind in Ireland.
This morning’s reports said Shannon Ferries was hoping to run a ferry with space for 24 cars from Knockferry, on Lough Corrib’s western shore, to Kilbeg on the north-east.
