Second cow case in US
A second animal has tested positive for mad cow disease, just days after the United States said it planned to reopen its border to Canadian beef.
An older dairy cow from Alberta tested positive for bovine spongiform encephalopathy, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The results confirmed preliminary tests released earlier this week.
Despite learning of the new suspected case, the Bush administration said it would stand by its decision to renew Canadian cattle imports beginning in March.
