HONG KONG: the Hang Seng index closed up 69.4 at 14266.4.

SINGAPORE: the Straits Times index closed down 0.3 at 2057.8.

NEW YORK: the Dow Jones closed up 78.4 at 10854.5.

TOKYO: the Nikkei closed down 42.6 at 11381.6.
