Shannon gets EUjet boost
Shannon Airport got another major boost today with the announcement that EUjet is to offer 1.3 million extra seats over an expanded network of 32 destinations.
From the end of March next year, EUjet will launch two new routes from Shannon to Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca.
In addition, the airline will increase frequency on the Shannon to Faro and Shannon to Malaga routes and will maintain its Saturday service to Murcia.
The airline will also up its Dublin to Kent route to twice daily.
And passengers between Shannon and Kent can now have a wider choice of onward destinations, with an expanded EUjet service from that airport to Alicante, Belfast, Budapest, Cologne, Ibiza, Newcastle, Seville and Valencia.
The news comes less than a month after Ryanair announced major investment in Shannon with 12 new routes from the airport set to double the number of passengers using the Clare airport.
EUjet chief executive PJ McGoldrick said the launch of the new network will take the airline forward to its next exciting stage of development.
“This is fantastic news for EUjet and Shannon. Having our home base and headquarters in Shannon, we are particularly pleased to play our part in the revitalisation of Shannon.”
Summer 2005 destinations from Shannon Airport are: Faro, Kent, Ibiza, Malaga, Murcia and Parma de Mallorca.
Booking for the new summer schedules is now open with flights commencing at the end of March and some space is still available on the ski specials.
EUjet flights can be booked online at www.eujet.com.
