New tourism resort to create up to 800 jobs in Cork

A new €200m tourism project is set to create up to 800 jobs in Co Cork, according to Enterprise Minister Micheál Martin.

Mr Martin said an international property development consortium, XCES Projects, was planning to create 350 full-time jobs at the new Kinsale Harbour Resort, which includes a 200-room, five-star hotel, an 18-hole golf course and an indoor and outdoor equestrian arena.

The Minister said a further 450 indirect jobs would be created in the local area because of the investment, while 300 people would also be employed during the construction phase.

Mr Martin said the new resort would attract more than 80,000 visitors to the region annually, which would be worth around €100m to the local economy every year.
