The daily Irish language newspaper Lá has blamed unionists for forcing it to lay off two workers.

An Ulster Unionist MP and another UUP member of the House of Lords have led a campaign against European and cross-border grants for the Northern paper.

Editor Ciaran O’Pronntaigh said funding from INTERREG and Foras na Gaeilge had been blocked by complaints from Lord Laird of Artigarvan, an Ulster Scots activist, and Lady Sylvia Hermon, the UUP MP for North Down.
