ISEQ slides towards 6000 mark
The ISEQ has slipped back 52.75 to 6,010.37 today, with mixed fortunes for the financials.
Shares in Allied Irish Bank gained 4c to €14.40 today while shares in Bank of Ireland fell 13c to €10.62.
Anglo-Irish Bank shares gained 2c to €15.96, recovering from early losses. The bank today announced the final results for the year ended September 30 would be revealed next week
Irish Life & Permanent was the hardest hit of the financials, shedding 22c to €13.03.
Shares in pharmaceutical giant Elan plumetted €1.38, or 5.88%, to €21.45 today. Elan yesterday announced the European Committee for Medical Products for Human Use recommended its Prialt drug be indicated for use.
Meanwhile, Ryanair gained 2c to €5.07 as it announced a new daily service from Gatwick to Knock and increased frequency on routes from London Stansted to Cork and Shannon.
The number of Cork flights goes from three to four and Shannon flights from two to four.
Both services come into effect from January 19.
Shares in Waterford Wedgewood remained static today. The company unveiled more disappointing trading figures today after seeing like-for-like sales slump 10% in October.
