Cullen to meet interim Aer Lingus chairman over resignations
The Minister for Transport Martin Cullen is to meet the interim chairman of Aer Lingus, John Sharman, tomorrow.
It follows the resignation of three managers at the airline; Seamus Kearney, Brian Dunne and chief executive Willie Walsh.
They have announced their intention to step down next May because of Government failure to decide on the airline’s future ownership and strategy.
The three board members had planned a management buy-out, but later withdrew the proposal.
The departure of the top Aer Lingus executives means the company’s three-year business plan, which involves the shedding of 1,300 jobs, is now in jeopardy.
