Royal Mail: Stamp prices will go up

The price of stamps in the UK will have to increase over the next few years as Britain's Post Office makes itself more efficient in the face of increased competition, the head of the Royal Mail warned today.

Chief executive Adam Crozier told business leaders that the cost of posting letters in the UK was the cheapest in Europe at 28p (40c) for first class letters - compared with 88c in Germany.
