Bord na Móna unions to discuss format of planned strike action
Unions representing workers at Bord na Móna are due to meet today to discuss the format of possible strike action over pay.
The workers have already voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action over the company's refusal to pay them the second half of an agreed 6% pay rise.
Bord na Móna has claimed that the pay rise was dependent on productivity improvements that have not materialised.
Speaking ahead of today's meeting, ATGWU spokesman John Bolger said: "The group of unions have no alternative now but to continue with a view that they are going to take action . . . If the board don't concede the 3%, well there will be action. There's no question about that."
