ISEQ rallies to recover from early losses
The ISEQ index recovered from early losses to close up 20.59 points at 5,646.44.
C&C and Ormonde Mining released interim resultstoday, with C&C reporting a profit of €64.2m, up 6% on last year, in its first results as a publicly-listed company. The food and beverage company closed up 7c at €2.38, a gain of 3.03% on its opening price.
Ormonde closed up 1c at €0.15, as the exploration company announced operating losses of €108,863.
Pharmaceutical company Elan closed up 34c at €18.
It was a good day for the financials, with AIB up 12c at €13.87 and Bank of Ireland up 8c at €11.
Irish Life & Permanent was up 4c at €13.11, while Anglo Irish Bank was up 5c at €15.05.
Building materials group CRH was today’s busiest share, shedding 8c to €19.30.
Trading was also heavy for Ryanair, which lost 1c to stand at €3.70 this evening as it "celebrated" the expansion of its London-Luton base with a “75% off lowest fares” seat sale.
The inaugural flight from London-Luton to Dinard in France today was the first of nine new international daily routes, which Ryanair will operate from Luton in addition to the Dublin and Milan routes.
