Organic-fuelled car to be unveiled in NI

British company Organic Power will use Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council's EU Biogas conference later this month to launch a Biogas-powered vehicle.

The car, a Mercedes Benz, will be the first vehicle in Ireland or Britain to be powered on animal manures.

The conference, Biogas in Society, will take place in the Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen from October 21 to October 23 and is part of a series of workshops/conferences organised by the EU BIOEXELL Centre of Excellence across seven member states (UK, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Spain, Italy and Greece).

Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, through its Environmental Health department, agreed a number of years ago to become a partner with eight other countries to promote biogas as a fuel for the future.
