02 calls for cut in telecommunications red tape

The head of 02 Ireland has called on Minister Noel Dempsey to cut the amount of red tape in the telecommunications sector.

Danuta Grey, the company's chief executive, has claimed that there is too much regulation and this is stifling investment.

She has said that investment decisions not only have to take account of what is best for customers and shareholders, but are also dependent on second guessing what each of the regulatory bodies will take issue with.
