Wall St and mining stocks help FTSE rise

A good start on Wall Street and positive sentiment among mining stocks helped sustain gains on the London market today.

The FTSE 100 Index lost hold of an earlier 35-point gain, but steadied to end the day 26.1 points up at 4567.3.
