First solar-powered streetlight in Co Leitrim

Energy Awareness Week got off to a great start with the installation of the first solar-powered streetlight in Co Leitrim.

"The solar light in Ballinamore is, as far as we know, the first of it's kind in the North West of Ireland," said Eirbyte representative Miriam Sheerin.

The solar streetlight was manufactured by Eirbyte Renewable Energy Services with the assistance of Gerard McGovern Welding Services in Ballinamore.

Eirbyte is one of the Co Leitrim businesses involved in the Renewable Energy Forum which was launched recently at Armagh University in conjunction with the Leitrim Enterprise Board and Ballymena Business Centre.
