DVD dispenser kills the video store

An innovative company has delivered the first ever automatic DVD/video dispenser to the high street in Ireland.

Apache Pizza, the pizza delivery franchise, has announced that one of its largest outlets in Cork, owned and managed by Tom Harrington, is the first store in Ireland to introduce the automated DVD/video dispenser offered by DVD dispensers Ltd.

The first machine is located at the Apache Pizza outlet in Hollyhill, Cork.

Automatic DVD/Video dispensers are state-of-the-art ATM style machines that deliver 24 hour access to the latest movie and game releases.

Customers will have the ability to order on-line, pay using their credit card and do so at the customer’s convenience and not that of the video store.

Over the past 10 years automatic DVD/video dispensers have made a big impression on the rental market in Europe with retailers seeing a 50% increase in rental and 20% on other in-store products.

The machines are designed like an ATM and can be "street facing" or located "in-store" to enhance the shopping experience.

Customers only pay for the rental per hour with discounts available for early return of the movie.

There will also be annual packages available.

The first machine is located at the Apache Pizza outlet in Hollyhill, Cork.
