ISEQ closed up 14.7
The ISEQ climbed 14.7 today to close at 5,630.28 this evening.
Allied Irish Bank shares crept up 1c to €13.42. The AIB inquiry into overcharging at AIB is complete and its findings will now be considered by an AIB board-appointed committee, the bank said today.
Bank of Ireland shares slipped 5c to €11.35 while Anglo Irish Bank shares toppled 13c to close the day at €14.80. There was better news for Irish Life & Permanent, with shares rising 25c to €13.10.
Elsewhere Independent News & Media announced its interim results today, with record after-tax profits of €68.1m revealed. The results are up 42.8% on the same period last year (to June 30). Shares in IN&M were trading at €2.07 today.
Construction and building shares enjoyed a good day today. CRH shares climbed 13c to €19.10 today while shares in the Grafton group rose 5c to €6.76. Grafton shares were also up, rising 6c to €7.43.
Pharmaceutical giant Elan leaped 4c to close at €19.80 today. Another pharmaceutical, Craigavon-based Warner Chilcott (formerly Galen), was also on the move, up 39c to €9.31.
The most traded stocks today were IL&P, AIB, Anglo-Irish Bank, CRH and Bank of Ireland.
