15 new jobs as WWI wins Dixons contract
Dixons Stores Group Ireland, a division of the £6.5bn (€9.6bn) Dixons Group, announced today, that it has awarded a multi-million euro contract to Irish logistics company Walsh Western International (WWI) to handle the warehousing and reverse logistics for its €107m business in Ireland.
WWI was one of seven companies that tendered for the Dixons Group business in Ireland. The appointment of Walsh Western International will create 15 new positions immediately within the company in Dublin with more job openings to follow later in the next quarter.
Brendan Ryan, business development director, WWI said: "Given today's competitive environment, WWI is delighted to have secured this contract with Europe's leading electrical retailer.
"WWI will be responsible for managing the storage and distribution of a large range of brown and white goods. This is additional business to the recent contract awarded to WWI by PC World, part of the Dixons Group, for their components business in the UK."
Steve Herbert, distribution operations director of Dixons said: "Dixons Group has invested heavily in supply chain and branch systems. Our improvement programme has seen increased focus on forecasting sales, ordering stock and intake planning. In selecting Walsh Western, we have a partner with proven IT solutions and the ability to manage our out-sourced services which will help us meet our market growth objectives in Ireland."
