Telecom giant Nortel Networks, which has operations in England and Northern Ireland, is to slash its work force by 10% as it struggles to recover from an accounting scandal that led to a criminal investigation.

Telecom giant Nortel Networks, which has operations in Northern Ireland, is to slash its work force by 10% as it struggles to recover from an accounting scandal that led to a criminal investigation.

The Canadian company said 3,500 jobs will go and it has has fired seven finance employees “for cause".
